Yuseonggae was a newly developed black pericarp variety and was selected from Yuseong local landrace in 1984. The variety was a non-branched with three capsules per axil and bicarpels and quadriloculi type, and matured three days earlier compared with Danbackggae in full season cropping and matured similarly to Pungyeonggae in after barley cropping. The plant height was shorter, and oil content and quality were lower than the content leading variety Danbackggae. Yuseonggae was a widely adaptable cultivar to central and southern part of the country in full season cropping and also adaptable to the area including Chungnam and southern provinces in after barley cropping
