The animal feed industry [Philippines]
1985
Zamora, R.G. | Ladores, A.M.
The major groups of the industry are the: (1) PAFMI [Philippine Associations of Feedmillers, Inc.] who account for the bulk of commercial production; (2) the non-PAFMI mills which are mostly regional in nature and specialized millers; (3) and the self mixers who are the largest consumers of mixed feeds. The feed industry will continue to be corn-based. Substitute like cassava and sweet potato in order to be accepted will have to surmount some major technological problems to make them viable substitutes. Soybean meal which is 100% imported will continue to be the cheapest protein source among the protein sources. Molasses and copra meal will continue to be an important component of mixed feeds. The viability of the animal feed industry will be very much dependent on the success of the government programs on feed grains
