Information on the storing techniques of five kinds of legume seeds such as peanut, cowpea, stringbean, mungbean and yambean were gathered through an interview with farmers. Samples were obtained from farmers to determine moisture content, germination rate and germination percentage. Moisture content and storing techniques greatly affected the germination percentage of each sample. Samples with lower moisture content gave the highest germination percentage. Peanut, cowpea, stringbean and mungbean stored in sealed containers as bottles and cans with little application of sevin produced the highest germination percentage. Yambean seed storage was inadequate resulting to poor germination
