The effect of feeding frequency and feeding periods on the performance of goats
1985
Abilay, T.A. | Boone, P.J.S. | Pintor, E.M.
In Part 1, adult goats raised during March-April (Hot-dry) feeding period had significantly higher initial and final body weights and total fecal production than those kept during September-October (cold-wet) and January-February (cold-dry) feeding periods. The feeding period had no significant influence on the total and average daily weight gains, total dry matter intake, feed efficiency and percent digestibility dry matter intake of goats. No interacting effect was noted on feeding frequency and feeding period on the above parameters. In Part 2, the effects of feeding frequency, feeding period and their interaction on kid performance were similar with those of the adult goats, except the total digestibility dry matter intake. Between age comparison, the adult goats had significantly higher total and average daily weight gains, total feed intake, total fecal production and total digestible dry matter
