DMMP (N-dodecyloxymethylene-N-methylpiperidinium chloride) and DMMM (N-dodecyloxymethylene-N-methylmorpholinium chloride) retarded seed germination and severly inhibited seedling growth in Cucumis sativus L. Especially sensitive to both compounds were roots, which were shortened by more than 50 per cent by 10 exp(-5) M solution of DMMP or DMMM, DMMP being more active than DMMM
