Interrelationship between animal production and socio-economic status of farmers in some villages of Amphoe Kamphaengsaen, Nakorn Pathom Province [Thailand]

Two villages at Kamphangsaen District and 50 families in each village were chosen for this investigation during April 1982 to April 1983. In the first village the annual income averaged 44,106 Baht per household or 7,114 Baht pre head per year, where is the second village, the corresponding estimates were 42,180 Baht per household or 6,359 Baht. Out of the total annual household income, 9,642 or 21.9% were derived from animal sale in the first village, and 4,991 Baht or 11.8% in the second villages. The income from raising cattle and buffalo of the second was significantly related to the income from crop production and non agricultural income. In the first village, it was found that the number of pigs raised was significantly related to the income from crop production, but no relationship was found in the second village
