Contact farmers' adoption of pregermination direct seeding method [of rice planting] in Changwat Sing Buri [in central part of Thailand]
1985
Boolsak Potichareon
Two hundred and twenty two contact farmers were multi-stage randomly selected from 7 Tambol of 3 Amphoe namely Amphoe Indaburi, Amphoe Muang and Amphoe Taehang. Data collection was made by distributing questionnaires directly to contact farmers. Statistical methods used in the analysis were percentage and chi-square. The contact farmers had adopted the pregermination direct seeding method at a medium level. They followed all steps of the direct seeding method at a high level, but the step of preparing seeds with salt water at a rather low level. Different socio-economic aspects of contact farmers such as ages, educational levels, social status, sizes of land holding, contacts with outsiders and exposure to information resulted in different levels of adoption of pregermination direct seeding method
