General and specific cross-breeding dispositions of examined tomato varieties were highly significant for the fruit number and mass per plant in the generations F1 and F2 with the prevailing influence of genes with additive properties. The parent varieties, with largest median values of the fruit number and mass per plant, also exhibited the highest values of general cross-breeding disposition. The highest specific cross-breeding disposition values were found with cross-breeds from divergent parent plants, or at least one parent with high general cross-breeding disposition values.
