Samples of cervico-vaginal mucus were analysed for amino acid composition of pregnant and nonpregnant cows during various stages of oestrous cycle and early pregnancy. Glutamic acid was the most predominant amino acid and was present in highest concentration in all the stages of oestrous cycle and early pregnancy except first week of non-pregnant group in which it was slightly less than aspartic acid. Minimum concentration of all identified amino acids was recorded during mid heat. In general, total amino acid content showed an increasing trend during different stages of non-oestrous phase and early pregnancy
