Results of ploughing depth and the use of different implements on sugar-beet are reported from two trials in the Po valley (Modena and Bologna, Italy). Results show a negative response of sugar-beet to shallow (10 cm tillage). There were no significant yield differences at ploughing depths of 25, 50, 75 cm on well-structured clay soil with adequate rainfall.
