Shrimp farm study of Assasuni Upazila of Satkhira district [Bangladesh] by remote sensing technique

An attempt has been made to identify the shrimp farms of Satkhira district. The infrared aerial photographs which were taken by Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing organization (SPARRSO) in December 1983 and January 1984 were used. Landsat data of 1972, 1975,1980 and 1984 were also used to study the changes occuring in the Landuse pattern of Satkhira due to shrimp culture. Both aerial photo and Landsat data are very useful for identifying the shrimp farms in such a vast area with some limitations.
