Study on the saponin content in tea seeds of main tea varieties in China

The saponin content in the seeds of 26 main cultivars of tea from 14 provinces or regions in China was 10-125 (ranging 10-15%) average, varying with cultivars. Types of tea plant, introduction of cultivars and ripening process of seeds had influence on saponin content in the seeds.
