Five wild honeybee species in Apidae in China were studied on the basis of their geographical overlap distribution and differences in morphology, ecology and biochemistry. It is concluded that there are six honeybee species of Apidae in the world. A comparative study was made and it was suggested that the six honeybee species had the same origin with the evolution system of Micrapis-Megapis-Apis cerana-Apis mellifera. Based on the origin of angiosperm the history of the earth and the fact that the five wild honeybee species are concentrated in the southern end of the Hengduan Mountains in China, a new theory was put forth that the Apidae was originated from the Himalayas and the Hengduan Mountains.
