Infestations caused by the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne hapla Chitwood on Actinidia chinensis. Planch, are reported from Greece, and the root reaction to this nematode attack is studied. Cross sections of galls showed that "Giant cells" were formed around the anterior part of the nematode body and always in the central cylinder of the root. Each female was surrounded by 3-8 multinucleate cells, each of which contained numerous hypertrophied nuclei
