In order to study the resorption of nutrients from different parts of the digestive system surgical methods are developed which permit the collection and chemical analysis of the chymus. This gives opportunity for more precise estimation of the nutritive value of feeds and nutritive requirements of pigs. The paper describes the surgical technique of implantation of a simple T-fistula into the ileum of growing pigs, the technique of narcosis and pre- and postsurgical treatments.
