Estimation for application amount of N fertilizer in mid mountainous paddy soils with special reference to content of organic matter and available silica in soils

Field experiments were carried out to evaluate the optimum application of N-fertilizer with different content of soil organic matter and available silica for early maturing japonica rice cultivar in mid-mountain area. The optimum rates of N-fertilizer under controlled and improved soil plots were 12.7 and 14.8 kg/10a respectively. The estimation for optimal application amount of N-fertilizer in mid-mountainous paddy soils was calculated from the multiple regression equation of plain area with correction factor of F value, the ratio of N application rates obtained from the field experiment and soil test.
