Comparison of the growth performance of Phil-Murrah and Phil-Ravi water buffalo crosses raised at the Philippine Carabao Research and Development Center [Philippines Univ., Los Banos]

Six F1 Phil-Murrah and 4 F1 Phil-Ravi crossbreds were studied for growth performance. Data on weight gain, body measurements, daily feed consumption and feed efficiency were obtained. The results showed that Phil-Murrah crossbreds were better than the Phil-Ravi in feed efficiency. The 2 crossbred groups showed no significant differences in weight gain and increase in body measurements. However, the results are not conclusive because of the very limited number of animals used in each group.
