1987
Bautista, A.V. | Sumangil, J.P.
Integrated pest management (IPM) provides increased profits, lower health hazards and fewer pest outbreaks even when yields resulting from its application are comparatively just as high with other practices. The program also identifies regionalization of IPM as an important component considering geographic, climatic and even ethnic diversities, and seeks a multisectoral participation to the solution of IPM-related problem. The paper presents in tabulated form: summary of the most recent IPM field demonstrations resulting in higher net profits when compared to farmers practices; management and monitoring of field implementation, as well as coordinated activities of outreach agencies and the farming sector in each province; results of training on IPM for rice farmers and government production technicians; and number of farmers center established by regions. The current IPM also includes priority crops such as corn, vegetables and banana.
