Study on the accumulation and the content of nutrient elements in tomato fruits

Investigations were carried out under glasshouse conditions. It was found that during the growth of tomato fruits the percentage of dry matter content declined. Calcium was taken up during the whole period of fruit growth. The highest concentration of calcium was in young fruitlets. The dynamics of potassium and phosphorus uptake was similiar to calcium. Magnesium was the only nutrient that was taken up only by small fruitlets. The content of nitrates during the whole period of fruit growth was low: about 0.1 percent dry matter or less
