Reproduction in geese fed on low-protein diet

In an experiment on 420 laying geese and 90 ganders of White Italian breed the effect of reducing protein level of complete isocaloric rations from 16% (control) to 14 or 12% was studied. No significant effect of reducing dietary protein level on laying performance, egg fertility and hatchability was found. High production level obtained in this experiment irrespective of protein content in rations might be a result of shortening the lighting day to 8 hours
