Correlation between soil properties and erosion

A lot of field and laboratory investigations have shown a very close correlation between soil properties and the degree of its erosion. Such correlation is most visible in morphologic properties of some forms as well as in chemical properties, especially in the content of organic matter and humus. With the decrease of the solum depth, conditions for the increase and development of vegetation become unfavourable, the wood mass production decreases and the poor grass vegetation, with lithosol and regosol, completly replaces forest vegetation.
