The effect of time and the way of application of nitrogen on the yield of winter wheat in the region of Kraljevo [Yugoslavia]

In the field experiments carried out in the surroundings of the Kraljevo region (Yugoslavia) it was found out that heavy losses of nitrogen could occur on the soils with low content of clay and organic matter, especially on the slope terrains during autumn and winter. The way of rational nitrogen application (repeated application) was established. Fertilization of the winter wheat with nitrogen significantly increased the number of ears per m and the weight of 1000 grains (except on 1 locality).
