Study on the frequency of P application of boro - fallow t. aman cropping pattern under wetland culture [in Bangladesh]
1989
Bhuiyan, N.I. | Mazid Miah, M.A.
This study was undertaken to determine the most suitable frequency of P application for a target yield and to estimate the potential P supplying power of soil a longterm field experiment with Boro - fallow - t. aman cropping pattern was initiated at Bangladesh Rice Research Institute, Joydebpur, Bangladesh farm and the 3rd crop was harvested during Boro 1988. Five treatments were tested with a P control and P at the rate of 25 kg/ha. Blanket dose of NKS was applied at the rate of 120-35-20 kg/ha. Soils had adequate level of P (Olsen P 10.4 ppm). Phosphorus applied in each crop and in every alternate crop behaved similarly and produced higher straw and grain yield, enhanced P content in plant tissue at active growth stage and increased the total uptake of phosphorus over other treatments indicating that in soils containing adequate available P like experimental site (olsen P 10 ppm or more) P fertilizer application may not be necessary for each crop of a Boro - fallow - t. aman sequence.
