Correlations between geographic distribution of plants and environment in eastern regions of China were discussed in the paper. Forest vegetations have a zonal distribution from north to south, which corresponds closely with the distribution of dominant species. The formation and distribution of dominant species are determined by the high coincidence of plant biological habits with the environment. The presence of environmental gradient and difference in plant biological and ecological habits is an important inside factor forming the geographic substitutional distribution of dominant species. These two concepts are very useful for the mapping of forest vegetations.
