Genetic studies on yield and protein content in three field bean (Vicia faba L.) hybrids [Egypt]

The study aimed to investigate the mode of inheritance of yield and yield components, i.e. plant height, number of pods per plant, length of pod, number of seeds per pod, number of seeds per plant and 1oo-seed weight as well as protein content and the associations between yield and some traits. Three crosses including three varieties belonging to different races of Vicia faba L. were studied. The results obtained could be summarized as follows: Potence ratio, over dominance, complete dominance and partial dominance were estimated for genes controlling the characters studies.
