This work was conducted at Orman Botanical Garden, Giza, to determine the effect of the slow-release fertilizer (green alle) on Strelitzia reginae, Banks, seedlings. Different levels of the green pile were used every six months compared with a compound fertilizer (NPK). The slow-release fertilizer was favourable than the compound fertilizer. The green pile at the rates of 80 and 100 gm per pot (35 cm diameter) produced the best growth expressed as leaf number, fresh weight of the leaves and rhizomes. The total carbohydrate content of leaves and rhizomes increased as green pile rate increased. These treatments promoted flowering time about 10 months, and resulted longer flower stalks.
