Effect of foliar nutrition feeding by commercial formulation of micro-elements on growth, yield and some fiber properties of the cotton cultivar Pan 575 [Egypt]

Two field experiment were carried out at Kabezi Experimental Farm Station, Province Bujumbura, Burundi, during 1983/1984 and 1984/1985 seasons, using the cotton cultivar Pan 575 (Gossypium hirsutum L.). The experiment design was latin square in the first season, 4 x 4, and complete randomized blocks with four replications, in the second season. Foliar spray treatments in the first season were control, Irral + Asplex, Meda + Asplex, and Meda, without using soil fertilization. In the second season, they were, control, Irral, Meda, Complesal 11-8-5 and Fetrilon-Combi 2, accompanied by soil fertilization with 40 kg N and 40 kg P202/ha. The results obtained reveal that foliar spray with different materials had insignificant effect on final plant height, number of sympodia per plant, yield components, yield per hectare, lint percentage and seed index. But there was a tendency of increasing number of open bolls per plant, yield per plant and yield of seed cotton per hectare in favour of foliar spray treatments. Fiber properties, length, strength and fineness were affected different from one product to another and from season to season
