Influence of molybdenum treatment and number of plants per hill on the yield of faba bean (Vicia faba, L.) [Egypt]

This study was carried out during 1985/86 and 1986/87 seasons at the Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University on faba bean cv. Giza 3 to study the effect of molybdenum treatments and number of plants/ hill on the growth and yield of faba bean. The main results which were obtained could be summarized as follows: Soaking faba bean seeds in molybdic acid solution was the more favourable treatment for obtaining high yields as compared with the other molybdenum treatments. Planting faba bean as two plants/ hill increased seed yield as compared with planting one or three plants/ hill on the average of the two seasons. In both seasons, the highest seed yield was obtained when faba bean seeds were soaked in molybdic acid solution and planted as two plants/ hill.
