The present experiment was carried out during 1986 and 1987 Summer seasons at Sabahlia Horticultural Research Station to study the effect of plant density on both fresh and seed yield of squash (Cucurbita pepo L.). It was found that 20 cm apart with 3 plants per hill gave the highest number of fruits per plot. The maximum yield of fresh fruits was obtained from 20 cm spacing, with slight increase in the case of one plant per hill. The highest seed yield per fruit was obtained from 40 cm spacing with one plant per hill, however, the maximum seed yield per plot was obtained from 20 cm apart with one plant per hill. Seed index was not affected by the variation in plant density.
