During the 1984 and 1985 summer plantings, evaluation programme was conducted in the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Shebin El-Kom to evaluate some introduced tomato genotypes under the prevailing conditions in Egypt. In the first planting 53 tomato cultivars and hybrids were evaluated in a randomized complete block design to select the best 10 tomato genotypes for 1985 evaluation. There was a significant difference between cultivars in both early and total yield, and fruit size and weight. Based on such performance, the promising genotypes were, Saladette cultivar and Hybrid count-ll for earliness; Hybrid Count-ll walter and STD. Peto-94 for top yielding; and Hybrid Count-ll for fresh market and Nagcarlan cultivar for processing. Saladette was the best cultivar for the T.S.S. and fruit acidity, mean while hybrid Count-ll was superior in fruit acidity and vitamin C content. The fungicide polyram was the best fungicide on the Alternaria leaf spot infection.
