Evaluation of sawdust as a potting medium for container growing with Coleus blumei as a test plant
1987
Olympio, N.S. | Sarkodie Mensah, S. (University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (Ghana). Dept. of Horticulture)
Partially decomposed sawdust-sand mixes were used to determine suitable potting medium, with Coleus blumei as a test plant. The saw dust was mixed with sand at 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, and 0:100% by volume. The 25:75 sawdust/sand mix produced the best plants even though the physical and chemical properties were not adequate to sustain growth. Plants grown in higher sawdust % mixes performed poorly
