The authors compared the hatching results, suitability for sexing by colour of the plumage, growth rate till 8 weeks of age, and liver production of hybrids of Hungarian gander X Landes female and Landes female X Hungarian gander offsprings. In respect of hatchability and growth rate of hybrids of reciprocal crossings proved to be equivalent in the experiments that were carried out in a large-scale geese farm. No heterosis effect was found when hatching results of the crosses were compared to those of the pure bred parents. Sexing of day-old geese on basis of colour of the plumage is possible only in the progeny of the reciprocal crosses have white plumage in both sexes. Later, at 6 weeks of age, this crossing combination also becomes suitable for sexing, since birds with white feathers are females. Ganders of Landes gander X Hungarian female crosses inherit the colour of their mothers with greater probability than females of their fathers' colour.
