To establish the optimum cultural practices of rice plant in the foggy area (Mid-region, Andong) Odaebyeo, Sangpungbyeo and Donghaebyeo were cultivated in the foggy area (Waryong) and normal area (Bukhwu), transplanted on May 15, May 25, June 5 and June 25 during 2 years from '87-'88. The rice yield, meteorological productivity and climatic factors during ripening period were investigated. Sunshine hours during ripening period was shorter in the foggy area than in the normal area. The difference of respiratory consumption index in both area was high at the period from early Aug. to early Sept. The meteorological productivity of rice during ripening was lower in the foggy area than in the normal area, especially, the difference of that values at the heading from Aug. 4 to 9 was the highest, while at the heading Aug. 19 was the lowest. In the foggy area the heading date was delayed 1 or 2 days, and the ratio of filled grain was lower 2.4 % compared to the normal area. The optimum transplanting date was May 27 in the foggy area and May 20 in the normal area, while the difference of rice yield in both area was the highest on May 25 transplanting, but was the lowest on June 5 transplanting
