Paddy with initial moisture content of 18%-22% wet basis was successfully dried in bulk storage, 1.6 m deep, under tropical climate conditions during the wet season. No significant visible mold or yellowing was observed. Head yield after milling and seed germination were 51%-60% and 96%-98%, respectively. An analyses of drying strategies using mathematical simulation techniques showed that continuous ventilation with controlled relative humidity (whereby air with relative humidities higher than 75% was heated until relative humidity reached 65%) was the most economical.
