Results revealed that the application of nitrogen fertilizer did not significantly affect the height of plants 30 to 60 days after transplanting. However, there was significant differences on the height of plants between treatments 90 days after transplanting. Regardless of levels of nitrogen fertilization, the different insecticides applied did not significantly affect the growth of plants 30, 60 and 90 days after transplanting. The number of tillers produced, 30 and 60 days after transplanting were not significantly affected by the application of nitrogen fertilizer and different insecticides. The number of productive tillers one week before harvest was significantly affected by the levels of nitrogen fertilization and the different insecticides used. Among the different insecticides used, Mipcin was found most effective which resulted to 87.91 percent productive tillers on the average. The computed yield in tons per hectare showed no significant differences as affected by the different levels of nitrogen, however, it was significantly affected by the different insecticides used. The highest yield of 4.96 tons per hectare was obtained from Mipcin treated plants while the lowest was obtained from the untreated plants which yielded 4.11 tons per hectare.
