The techniques used in the Philippines for control of the Asian corn borer are described in this contribution. The currently integrated management scheme is based on the control action threshold and recognition of the sequential occurrence of the larvae at whorl and tassel stages of the corn plant. This method consists of integrating early planting with appropriate timing of application of insecticides, inundative release of the egg parasite Trichogramma evanescens, release of the predatory earwigs (Euborellia annulata) at the whorl and tassel stages, and the combination of the detasseling technique with the application of insecticides, or the release of the earwigs at tassel stage. The use of moderately resistant varieties, early planting, and sanitation contribute to the effectiveness of this control technique
