Researches were carried out in Brasov Research and Production Institute for Grassland Cultivation, during 1984-1986 in Festuca rubra - Feruma cultivar. Observations and determinations were made on the evolution of seed humidity, daily decrease rate of humidity, seed size and germination in terms of developmental stage and technique of harvest for a long term storage. From full earing to full flowering 20-23 days were required, depending on meteorological conditions. Daily average of decreasing humidity of seed from 55 to 20 % was about 2 %. In the process of seed formation, its size had a significant increase until reaching 30-35 % humidity, 30-35 days being necessary after the full flowering. The harvest in two stages (V3) can start when seed humidity is between 40 and 45 % (25-27 days after the full flowering), germination being higher than 80 %. Direct harvest in field (V2) can be done only when humidity is lower than 35 % (27-30 days after the full flowering), thus ensuring over 70 % germination. Date and technique of harvest also influenced the long term maintainance of germination. Humidity, size and germination of seeds, in terms of number of days from full flowering, were approximated through polynomes of 2nd or 3rd degree. Coefficients of multiple determination were between 95-98 %, also depending on the technique of harvest
