[The effect of altitude on the quality of grapes regarding the more important wine sorts on some wine-growing hills in Macedonia [Yugoslavia]]
1983
El-Holi, M.H.
The ecological conditions on certain wine-growing hills in Macedonia (Yugoslavia) enable the upkeeping of grape-vines, even on greater than above sea-level heights. Certain sorts have satisfactory grape quality even on the above sea-level borders. Grape-growing should be extended to the ridgy, mountainous land, where certain sorts produce good quality grapes which are used to make good quality wines. The following elements have been included in the research: altitude, temperature, humidity and light intensity, phenological observations, growth of leaves and total mass per 1 hectare, dynamics of grape ripening and chemical content of must (sugars and acids).
