Bagasse driers for Caribbean sugar factories

Bagasse drying is not to date incorporated into Caribbean Sugar Factory operations, despite the fact that the consequential increase in excess bagasse production could be utilized for a number of purposes. General background to reported work on bagasse driers is reviewed and an assessment made of the relevance of the different available types for the Caribbean situation. As a result of this assessment, two different types of vertically oriented moving packed bed driers are projected as being particularly appropriate. Such driers could be constructed on site by factory personnel.
