Autoregulation and the regularities of plant population biology in the wheat stand

The validity of the regularities of plant population biology on the level of stems and ears (so called nodules) in the stand was demonstrated on the sample of 14 winter wheat varieties and new breeds. Autoregulation and productivity under certain agroecological conditions can be evaluated on the basis of the linear relationship between the logarithm of the number of plants or stems per 1 m2 and the logarithm of their average weight. Thus it is possible to evaluate only one component of the genotype x enviroment interaction, i.e. the differences between genotypes in the utilization of the vegetation factors of locality or the differences between localities. The Viginta and Ydar varieties were noted for the highest biomass production, for their high ability to form a dense stand and to produce a high yield. The best autoregulation with a change in stand density was found in the Viginta, Slavia and Odesskaya 66 varieties.
