Evaluation of productivity of newly selected Czechoslovak, GDR, Polish and Soviet varieties of common wheat

In ecological trials performed at the Research Institute of Crop Production Prague-Ruzyne (beet-and wheat subtype of Bohemia), 111 new varieties and cultivars were evaluated in 1983-1989. The tested cultivars exhibited above-average yields of grain in comparison with the Czechoslovak cultivar Regina: CSFR-Selekta; GDR-TAW 51.42512/83; USSR-Ljutescens 2522/82; in the yield levels CSFR - 25, GDR - 20, Poland - 30, USSR - 6; below-average - 27 new breeds. The tested cultivars were evaluated as to the most important traits in connection with the breeding strategies used in the given countries.
