GATT and the agrarian sector

The basic features of the agrobusiness are characterized from the viewpoint of the agrobusiness' position and function within the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, including the formulation of the major strategies of achieving a liberalization of agrobusiness in the world. Special attention is paid to the main objectives discussed at each of the GATT Rounds (the Dillon, Kennedy, Tokyo and Uruguay Rounds) and to the proposals aimed at business liberalization, as presented by the main participants of the GATT Rounds. Latest results of the last meetings of the Uruguay Round are analyzed, the problems of the General Agreeement on the programme of agrarian reform are discussed and implications are derived for the formulation of Czechoslovak agrarian policy.
