Effect of salinity treatments on growth, salt tolerance and leaf mineral composition of three apple rootstocks [Egypt]

The seedlings growth decreased as the salinity level of the irrigation water increased. The three rootstocks can be arranged in the following descending order owing to salt tolerance: MM. 106 MM. 109 MM. 111. Leaf Ca, Mg, Na and Cl increased with increasing the salinity levels, whereas K, Fe, Mn and Cu decreased. N and P. content did not show a consistent trend. The leaves of MM. 106 rootstock contained higher Ca, Mg, Na and Cl and lower N, whereas those of MM. 109 contained lower P. Fe, Mn and Cu. The MM. 111 rootstock had higher leaf N, P, Fe, Mn and Cu content. The K content did not significantly vary among the experimental three rootstocks.
