Combinations between three levels of soil moisture (70, 50 and 40% of field capacity) and four levels of soil salinity (unsalinized control, 2000, 4000 and 6000 ppm) were adapted to guava seedlings. The response of anatomical features of stem and roots to such treatments was studied. Decreasing level of soil moisture depressed percentage of xylem tissue and number of xylem vessels in both stem and roots. Water stress increased diameter of xylem vessels in the roots; the opposite occurred in stem. The percentage of pith tissue increased by applying drought in both stem and roots.
