[Effect of height and frequency of clipping on forage and grain yield of six barley genotypes Hordeum vulgare and Hordeum distichum L.]

Treatments consisted of five barley strains and one variety (SRCH95, SRCH99, SRCH96, SRCH108, SRCH265 and numar), three clippings (no clipping, 1 clipping and 2 clippings and 2 clipping highest (3 and 6 cm). The objective of this study was to determine the strain that produces higher forage and grain yield. Results showed that the average yield of green and dry fodder was affected by number of cutting, two cuttings produced more yield of green and dry fodder than one cutting. The number of chipping significantly affected the number of grain/spike, less number was produced from one cutting of some strains. Number of cutting also affected the 1000-kernel weight, however the two cutting treatments reduced weight for all genotypes except strain No.95 at 6 cm clipping height. Last grain yield was significantly affected by number of cutting, all genotypes gave lower grain yield from one cutting at both clipping height except for the strain No.99
