Studies on major cultivation methods for dry direct seeding of rice in Yeongnam area

The experiments were conducted at the Yeongnam Crop Experiment Station for two years (1988-1989) to establish the cultivation technique of direct seeding of rice (dry seeded) in Yeongnam area. The critical date of direct seeding based on heading date for safe ripening at Milyang area were June 15 for Odaebyeo (early maturing cultivar), June 10 for Palgongbyeo (intermediate maturing cultivar) and May 20 for Seomjinbyeo (late maturing cultivar), respectively. The optimum seeding rate was about 6.3 Kg/10a that resulted in maximum rice yield. The appropriate nitrogen application method was 20-30 % : 30-20 %: 20 %: 20 %: 10 % for basal: 5th leaf stage: 7th leaf stage : panicle formation stage: flowering stage with 16 Kg N/10a that resulted in 60-80 /m** (2) in rice standing
