A feeding trial was conducted to further evaluate the feeding value of ground rice as a replacement for ground yellow corn in swine diets. The different dietary treatments considered were: 0% (T1), 50% (T2) and 100% (T3) ground rough rice as replacement for ground yellow corn. The results indicated that there was no marked difference in terms of the average daily gain (T1-0.56 kg; T2-0.55 kg; T3-0.55 kg), average daily feed intake (T1-2.02 kg; T2-2.04 kg; T3-2.09 kg) and average feed to gain ratio (T1-3.61; T2-3.76; T3-3.82). Average cost of feed per kg gain was lower in diet with 100% ground rough rice (P15.91) as compared to diets with 0% (P19.81) and 50% (P18.14) ground rough rice. It is thus recommended that when the price dictates, ground rough rice can be used as feed ingredient or as replacement for ground yellow corn in swine diets.
