Communication strategy for COP [Citronella oil project]: a commercialized approach to the development of the local citronella oil industry

Study of the industry revealed that there is a huge local market for citronella oil. Total requirements of the market for 1988 alone were at 20.50 tons. This is projected to grow at an average of 28% per annum. Findings showed that 83% of the local requirements is accounted for by high volume users who have no strict quality requirements. The local market requirements could and were being substituted by imported citronella oil. The effective import duty of citronella oil is 52%.
