Effect of pruning and spacing on certain vegetative and generative processes in plants of sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) in greenhouse production
1989
Cebula, S.
The aim of an investigation carried out in 1984-88 was to evaluate the effect of various intensity of pruning shoots, leaves and fruit primordia of sweet pepper grown in a greenhouse. The following parameters were determined: the effect of pruning on the vegetative growth of plants with a special consideration of the development of leaf blades, changes in certain physiological processes of plants (content of assimilation pigments, intensity of photosynthesis and resources of assimilates in plants), effectiveness of fruit setting, yields and their structure, and the market quality and biological value of fruits. Morever, dependences between the pruning and the spacing of sweet pepper plants were evaluated. The modifications occurring in result of pruning were evaluated in the aspect of the basic factor of plant growth, i.e. the pattern of light conditions in the entire profile of sweet pepper plants
