Intensification and improvement of effectiveness of slaughter lamb production

The results of research carried out in the model commercial flocks of sheep were analysed. It was stated, that the higher reproductive performance of ewes and body weight of slaughter lambs the higher would be mutton production from each dam of the basal stock by same or higher wool performance and greater biological effectiveness of labour costs and of fodder base. Prices for exported slaughter lambs of April-May 1989 do not favour full utilization of the biological potential of sheep population, they give preference to light lambs
